Environmental graphics & wayfinding system for mother & child speciality hospital by KMCC in Tirupur. We worked closely with Shanmugam Associates - Santhosh Shanmugam & Ramya Raman to develop an environmental graphics scheme that worked in sync with the architectural intent.

The centre of the project was the idea to bring alive a children's storybook that draws its inspiration from the stories around the region. The story tells the journey of a caterpillar as it decides to explore the world around - from landscapes to cityscapes. On its way, the caterpillar is helped by creatures big and small who become part of its journey.

The storybook was then deconstructed and the narrative connects across the
floors. A printed version of the entire storybook is being designed that helps kids connect with the story. The story was also aligned with the intent and function of individual spaces.

Active spaces like corridors & reception areas were treated as picture book frames - helping to soften the environment, while passive spaces like patient rooms featured soothing background landscapes. Illustrations by the talented rohan francis & Namya Gupta brought the story to life across the hospital.
